The identity of a female journalist who perished in the Bailey Road fire remains still a mystery.

As a result, the authorities concerned could not hand over her body to her relatives.

Vice-Chancellor Sharfuddin Ahmed of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, who is one of the 17 members of the medical board that is in charge of the injured patients' care, said that efforts are being made to confirm her identity through DNA testing.

According to reports in a number of media sites on Saturday, Avisruti's body was given back to her family after a fingerprint test verified that her name was Brishti Khatun.

In response to a question concerning the accuracy of the stories, Sharfuddin stated that the woman's name was still unknown but that efforts were being made to identify her via DNA testing.

Samanta Lal Sen, the minister of health, added that the forensic division was looking into the situation seriously.

Along with another young journalist named Tushar Howladar, Avisruti went to eat at the well-known biriyani restaurant Kacchi Bhai at Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road on Thursday. Before Tushar departed to work for an online multimedia firm, they were coworkers at The Report Dot Live, an online media site.

However, catastrophe struck when a fire ripped through the seven-story building, killing 46 individuals—Avisruti and Tushar among them.

The delivery of 43 victims' bodies to their families has occurred, but Avisruti's body has not yet been given over because her identification is still unknown.

Her father, Sabrul Alam Sabuj, rushed to the Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka as soon as he learned of his daughter's passing. He said that Bristhi Khatun was the name of his daughter.

Bristi, as Avisruti, just quit The Report Dot Live to work for a different media organization.

Acknowledged as Avisruti Shastri by her peers, her name appears on Facebook under the same moniker. She was also well-known for her frequent trips to the temple to pray.

The lady, who was in her 20s, had several inconsistencies in her birth registration certificate, national identity card, Eden College entrance card, and work birth certificate, which have since

been discovered.

"Abhishruti is my daughter," said Sabrul Alam while arriving to retrieve his daughter's body. Her birthday is December 25."

"Bristi Khatun is her nickname. Throughout her education at Kushtia Government Women's College, Eden College in Dhaka, and while she pursued her philosophy degree, she was known in the hamlet as Bristi."

There were inconsistencies discovered in her birth certificate, national identity card, Eden College entrance card for her second year final examinations, and her employment résumé, especially with reference to the identities of her parents. Her permanent address, however, is the same in all of the documentation.

Her birth certificate and birth registration both list December 25, 2000 as her date of birth. Her date of birth, however, is shown as December 25, 1998 on the national identity card.
