There will be no annual and final examinations at the primary level in the 2021 academic year, confirms sources of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (MOPME).

Instead of this test, students of all classes in the academic year will be promoted to the next class after evaluating the performances in their own educational institutions.

Information and Public Relations Officer of MOPME Mahbub Rahman Tuhin confirmed the information to the media on Monday.

He said the decision was taken at a meeting on the assessment of primary school students. The meeting was held on October 26.

Due to Corona pandemic, the annual examination of primary level and the final examination of the fifth graders were not taken last year either. However, this year the ministry said if it is not possible to take the final examinations centrally, the annual examinations will be taken in their respective institutions.

The official of the ministry said the students will be promoted to the next class on the basis of evaluation in their respective institutions without taking the test. The proposal of not conducting the final examination of primary education was sent to the Prime Minister, and it has been approved.
