Army chief returns after S Korea visit

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has returned home on Saturday after a visit to South Korea.

During the visit, he paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff of the Republic of Korea, General Nam Yeong-shin on 19 October. They exchanged views on various possibilities for the development of good relations between the two countries' armies.

Later, the Army Chief observed two exercises titled "Army Tiger 4.0" and "Warriors Platform". He also visited various stalls of the International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition-2021 in Seoul.

He later exchanged views with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea Suh Wook, General Nam Yeong-shin, Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces General Jaque Raul, Russia's Ground Forces Commander-in-Chief General Oleg Leonidovich Salyukov and others.

The President of the Republic of Korea visited the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) - 2021. An 'air show' was held there in honor of the President, which was observed by the Army Chief along with VIPs from other countries.

At the end of the air show, General Shafiuddin Ahmed exchanged views with high-ranking military and civilian officials and dignitaries of different countries present at the exhibition. He then visited the stalls with various military equipments.

On October 21, the army chief took part in a cultural tour organized by the Republic of Korea Tourism Organization and visited historical sites in Seoul. On the same day, he attended a dinner in his honor at Bangla House in Seoul and exchanged views with Bangladesh Ambassador to Korea Md Delwar Hossain on various issues.

The visit by the Chief of Army Staff to the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition-2021 will provide an idea of the appropriate equipment to modernize the Bangladesh Army and will play a helpful role in the implementation of Forces Goal 2030.
