Anyone spreading rumours against govt will face stern action

Action will also be taken against anyone spreading rumours against the government at home and abroad, said the newly appointed State Minister for Information Mohammad Ali Arafat. 

On Sunday (January 14), the  minister complained to the reporters in the secretariat and said that 

rumours were being spread against the government at home and abroad. The Ministry of Information will work to prevent rumours. In that case, Mohammad Arafat said to take the advice of the former minister. 

Ministers have started their first office by accepting their responsibilities of their respective ministries from Sunday. In addition to accepting the responsibilities, State Minister of Information Mohammad Ali Arafat completed the familiar phase with everyone. 

According to sources in the secretariat, the nameplates of the ministers and state ministers of all ministries have already been changed. When the ministers reached the secretariat  they were greeted with flowers by the secretaries of the respective ministries and departments. The respective ministries have already completed their preparations to welcome the new cabinet members. The officials led by the secretary welcomed them. 

Meanwhile, the former information minister congratulated the new state minister of information. Hasan Mahmud said that the government has worked to ensure the rights of journalists. He expressed hope that the state minister of information will maintain that continuity. 

It is to be noted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina distributed the offices of the new cabinet ministers after the oath taking ceremony. Several members of the previous cabinet were also inducted into the new cabinet. Some have the same previous responsible ministry. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has placed new faces among the new ministers. Professor Mohammad A Arafat, who is known as a member of Awami League's research-like activities and IT-related issues, is among the newcomers. Arafat participated in the national elections for the first time. Although he had earlier participated in the by-election in the same seat (Dhaka-17).
