Another ‘Oxygen Express’ of Indian Railways has embarked on its journey to Bangladesh carrying a second tranche of 200 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to help address respiratory distress due to Covid-19

The train carrying 200MT LMO in 10 containers (20MT each) departed for Bangladesh from Tatanagar in India on Tuesday morning.

“This consignment will significantly augment reserves of Liquid Medical Oxygen in Bangladesh. With this, India reaffirmed its commitment to continue to support Bangladesh in its fight against the pandemic,” said the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

Earlier, on July 25, Bangladesh received a similar ‘Oxygen Express’ carrying 200 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) in 10 containers.

That was the first time ever that the “Oxygen Express” was put into operation to a neighbouring country, after these special train services were started in India on April 24.

Apart from that, on the Eid holiday, July 21, India sent 11 tankers carrying around 180 Metric Tonnes of Liquefied Medical Oxygen to Bangladesh by road on an emergency basis.

The health ministry said they would receive medical oxygen from India on a regular basis with the increasing demand due to the rising trend of Covid-19 patients.
