Alibaba.com, a leading platform for global business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce, today announced the opportunity for Bangladeshi artisans and handicraft entrepreneurs to tap into the lucrative Western holiday market.

The initiative aims to connect unique, eco-friendly, and handmade products from Bangladesh with millions of buyers in the USA and Europe who are seeking distinctive items for the upcoming holiday season.

From Halloween pumpkins made of jute and cane baskets for Thanksgiving gatherings to Christmas-themed décor and gift-ready handmade bags, the demand for sustainable, festive, and culturally rich products is growing fast.

So how can we tap into this booming holiday rush? The answer lies in preparation, creativity and choosing the right platform.

One thing we must keep in mind is that Western buyers plan their holiday inventories months in advance. Halloween-themed items start selling as early as August, Thanksgiving orders often close by September and Christmas shipments are booked before October ends. For Bangladeshi small and medium sized entrepreneurs (SMEs), this means early planning and attending Alibaba.com online expos such as Super September and March Expo are important.

On September 1st, Alibaba.com launched the September Sourcing Festival, with the first day's transaction volume increasing by 33% compared to the first working day last year. Super September—Alibaba.com's largest annual sales event—launched with an AI twist. The event features over 200,000 AI-curated sourcing lists highlighting global bestsellers, with discounts of up to 20%.

For many small and medium sized entrepreneurs and artisans, the hardest part isn’t making the product; it’s selling it to the right buyers around the world. That’s where Alibaba.com can help. It acts as a bridge to international markets, showing your products to millions of buyers who are looking for handmade and seasonal items. Alibaba.com also has smart AI tools to help you create better product listings, use the right keywords, and make sure your products appear in the right searches. Don’t worry about language differences—built-in translation tools let you talk to buyers from countries like France, Germany, and the USA easily.

Take Sarkar Exports from Narsingdi. They started small but scaled up by joining Alibaba.com. With improved product quality, professional listings, and smart use of Alibaba.com’s tools, they landed bulk orders, like 35,000 T-shirts shipped to France worth over USD 112,000. This shows what’s possible when SMEs embrace the platform and go global.

Jermatz Limited, a Bangladeshi company founded by Ismat Jerin Khan, produces and exports eco-friendly, handcrafted home decor and fashion accessories. In 2022, they started with Alibaba.com to reach global buyers and share Bangladesh's craftsmanship with the world. Despite challenges, they secured a $14,000 first order and now exports to USA, UK, Germany, Europe, and Belgium.

Bangladesh has always been rich in handicrafts and jute artistry. The world is now ready to embrace that heritage, especially during holidays that celebrate warmth, togetherness, and meaning. With the right planning and Alibaba.com as your global stage, this holiday season could be your breakthrough moment.

So, get your festive collections ready, think creatively about packaging, and join the Western holiday rush. The world is waiting for your craftsmanship.
