The Awami League on Saturday formulated its plan to fight against anti-people conspiracies at home and abroad, said sources.

The ruling party worked out the plan at its first joint meeting of the newly-elected executive, advisory and national committee held at its Tungipara Upazila office.

Chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the president of ruling Awami League, the meeting announced the year-long programmes ahead of the next 12th National Parliamentary election.

The Awami League on Saturday held its first joint meeting of the newly-elected committee a day after the completion of four years of 11th parliament and 14 years of power at a time.

The Awami League under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the elder daughter of the founder of Bangladesh and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Hasina, has been in power three consecutive times from 2008.

Earlier, the Awami League was also in power from 1996 to 2001.

Moreover, the Awami League had also been in power immediately after independence in 1971 up to 1975.

But, ill forces assassinated Bangabandhu along with almost all of his family members on August 15 in 1975. After a long 21 years, his daughter Sheikh Hasina regained power and after a gap of seven years, she further returned to power in 2008 with the mandate of the people of the country through democratic way by voting the Awami League.

But, the evil forces, their ally anti-liberation forces and conspirators at home and abroad are still active in the anti-state activities and to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina like her father in view to destabilise the country. They also want to destroy the democratic system to take Bangladesh back to the undemocratic era.

In this circumstance, sources said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,  also the president of Awami League, at the party's joint meeting instructed all the leaders to remain vigilant actively so that none could get any further chance to grab power.

The meeting sources also said Sheikh Hasina, at the meeting, distributed duties among the leaders of the party and also asked them to work hard so that conspirators at home and abroad could not take any advantage.

Meanwhile, the meeting sources said that the party programs for the new year have also been decided. The party will celebrate the home coming day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on January 10, International Mother Language Day on February 21, Historical Speech of Bangabandhu on March 7, the birth day of Bangabandhu and the National Children's Day on March 17, Genocide Day on March 25 and various programmes including Independence Day on March 26.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Tungipara on Friday and stayed there for a night.

During her stay in Gopalganj, Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a floral wreath at Bangabandhu's mausoleum at Tungipara on Friday.

Today, Sheikh Hasina, also president of the AL, paid tribute to Bangabandhu at his mausoleum along with the leaders of its newly formed committee alongside attending a joint meeting and inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of 28 development schemes.

The Awami League (AL)'s newly-elected National Committee, Central Working Committee and Advisory Council led by party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman here.

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina along with her party leaders paid homage to the Father of the Nation by placing a wreath at his mausoleum in Tungipara of Gopalganj district.

They offered Fateha and joined a munajat (prayer) seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the Father of the Nation and other martyrs of the August 15, 1975 carnage.
