Jisanul Haque, an Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the City SB and Protection Branch in Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), has been temporarily suspended for leaking the personal information of former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia.
Before this, police investigated how Asaduzzaman’s personal information was leaked online. Along with this official, two other non-cadre police members were also investigated. Departmental actions have been taken against them as well.
The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued the suspension notice for ADC Jisanul Haque on Sunday.
The notice, signed by Secretary Md Jahangir Alam, stated that the allegations of indulging in anti-discipline activities against Jisanul Haque have been found to be prima facie true. Consequently, he has been temporarily suspended under
Section 39 (1) of the Government Employment Act 2018 and Rule 12 (1) of the Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 2018.
The notice also mentioned that during his suspension, he will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per the Bangladesh Service Rules. This order, issued in the public interest, is effective immediately.
Earlier, news about Asaduzzaman Mia was published in the media. Asaduzzaman Mia's ‘ESAF’ spread through social media. The ESAF form is the Electronic Subscriber Application Form, which is mainly filled by mobile subscribers. This form contains detailed information of a phone subscriber including name, address, national identity card number and fingerprint.
After the release of the form, the high-ups of the police were asked to investigate the matter. During the investigation, it was found that an officer of the rank of ADC of GMP exposed it.
A source at the police headquarters said that a letter was sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs to take action based on the Gazipur Metropolitan Police investigation report. After that, Jisanul Haque was temporarily suspended on Sunday.
