79,337 pass MBBS entry exam

Girls outshine boys

The results of MBBS first year admission test of 2021-22 academic year in government and private medical colleges have been published.

Announcing the results, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that the MBBS admission test of 2021-22 academic year has been conducted smoothly. 

“We have not heard of any untoward incidents anywhere. Girls have outshined boys and have passed more in numbers,” he said.

The minister announced the results at an event held at the Health Department's conference room at noon on Tuesday.

It was informed that 79,337examinees have passed the admission test this year. The first 4,350 candidates will get the opportunity to get themselves admitted in MBBS courses in 37 government medical colleges of the country.

The rest, students will be admitted in 72 private medical colleges according to merit. There are a total of 6,489 seats in private medical colleges.

The student named Sumaiya Moslem Mim scored the highest (92.5) marks in the examination.

The minister said that 1 lakh 39 thousand 742 students took part in the exams this year. Of them, 69,338 passed (55.13pc). Students will be able to apply for review till April 7-12. The procedure to apply for review will be announced later.

Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Mohammad Saiful Hasan Badal said, "We have conducted the test through three committees. Our goal from the very beginning was to hold a fully transparent test. All of us concerned have worked tirelessly to complete this test smoothly.”

MBBS (2021-22 academic year) first year admission test started last Friday (April 1) at 10 am and ended at 11 am. The one-hour test was held at a total of 57 venues in 19 centres. Among the centers, 18 were medical college and one was dental college.

A total of 1 lakh 43 thousand 630 candidates took part in the medical college admission test this year. The total number of seats in government medical colleges in the country is 4,350. As many as 33 students contested against each seat.

President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin and President of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) Prof Dr Mahmud Hasan were present on the occasion.
