71-kilometer walkathon held

To pay great tribute to the Freedom Fighters of the 1971 Liberation War, a group of 16 athlets attended a 71 Kilometer walkathon on 16 December. The athlets observed the programme marking the 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence and the golden jubilee of our glorious victory.

`Hatahati - the Walks’, a group of walkers/hikers observed the programme starting from zero point of the capital at zero hour of 16 December. They walked though Mohakhali-Uttara-Gazipur-Sreepur-Valukaon the Dhaka –Mymensingh highway. They took 17 hours to complete the program. 

At the ending point of the program, at valuka the athletes lightened 71 candles to pay respect to the Freedom Fighters of 1971. A large number of Valuka people welcome them there. The walkers distributed 710 facemasks to the commoners after their walking program.

It may be mentioned that, `Hatahati - the Walks’ is a group of sharing information about the necessity and usefullness of walking. They also organize walkathon and long distance walking programs. To pay respect to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his birth centenary last year on 19 November, 2020 they observed a 100 kilometter waking program in 24 hours from Dhaka to Comilla.
