65 deaths from Covid in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered 65 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Monday taking the total death toll to 11,644.

The death rate now stands at 1.52 percent in the country, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.

The country recorded 1,739 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,63,682, added the release. The current positivity rate stands at 8.95 percent. This is the lowest positivity rate since March 17 when the positivity rate was 7.68 percent.

The total positivity rate stands at 13.84 percent.

Among the 65 deceased, 42 were men, and 23 were women. Of them, 60 died in different hospitals across the country while five died at home.

Moreover, 32 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka Division, 17 from Chattogram, six from Sylhet, four from Khulna, two each from Rajshahi, Barishal and Rangpur divisions.

A total of 19,431 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday.

At least 3,834 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 6,91,162 and the recovery rate at 90.50 percent.

As of Monday, 3,217,394 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 153,536,038 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
