5 members of a teenage gang arrested for extortion

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7 has arrested five members of a teenage gang from Lalkhan Bazar for demanding extortion from the owner of a building under construction.  

The members of the gang beat the workers of the building under construction for not paying the dues and threatened to stop the work.  A total of Tk 44,500 in extortion and a sharp knife used in intimidation were recovered from the five detainees.

RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) Nurul Abshar said this on Sunday.

The 5 arrested are identified as Hridoy, Md Shukkur, Md Mir Hossain, Md Arif and Md Arif Hossain alias Lokman.

RAB-7 assistant director said that when the construction work of a house started in Lalkhan Bazar area, the detainees demanded extortion from the owner.  They threatened to stop work if they did not pay within three days.  When he started working later, he stopped the work by beating the workers.  

When the owner of the victim's house complained to the RAB, the RAB investigated and found out the truth of the incident.  Later, 5 people were arrested and handed over to Khulshi police station.
