5 killed in Khulna road crash

Five people, including two women, died and two others were injured in a collision between a brick-laden truck and a three-wheeler easy bike in Dumuria upazila of Khulna on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were Easy bike driver Biswajit Biswas, 30, passengers Sabbir Moral, 23, Nipa Dali, 25, his mother-in-law Amori Rani Dhali, 55, and sister-in-law Nipa Dhali, four-year-old Onni Biswas, hailing from several areas of the upazila.

The accident occurred at around 3:30pm when the vehicles collided head-on in Angardoha village in Kharniya union of the upazila, leaving two dead on the spot and five others critically injured.

Talking to BSS, Sukanta Saha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dumuria Police Station, said, on information police and fire fighting team rushed to the spot and took them to Dumuria health complex, where duty doctors declared Biswajit, Amori Dhali, Sabbir and Nipa Dhali dead. 

The other three were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where duty doctors declared minor child Onni Biswas dead. Two other passengers Antim, 28, and minor boy Arijit, 6, were admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

Police already seized the truck, OC said, adding the truck driver managed to flee away.
