The Public Service Commission (PSC) is set to announce the circular of 41st BCS by September next, said sources. A reliable source in PSC told the Bangladesh Post that they have already got demand note against 2135 vacant posts in different cadre services from the public administration ministry, and in connection with this, the circular might be announced in the first week of the next month.

The PSC, earlier thought to make this BCS a special one, to appoint college teachers. However, the autonomous body backtracked from the decision because they got a huge demand note for almost all cadres. The PSC appointed around 5000 doctors through the 39th BCS, which was also a special circular. Despite having a previous decision to appoint cadres in education service through a special circular, the education ministry had not sent its demand note to PSC that is why the 41st circular will just be a general one, PSC sources said.

“In order to arrange a special BCS exam the PSC need to amend or review some rules and regulations. But as the education ministry could not sent its demand note, so it will not be possible to announce the 41th BCS as a special circular,” they said. “We are working on preparing arrangements to announce the circular from the last two months and the circular will likely be announced in the first part of September,” a PSC official told media.

According to sources, the PSC got demand note for 323 posts in administration cadre, 25 in Foreign Service, 100 in police, 23 in customs and excise, 60 in income tax, 23 in ansar, and so many. Apart from this, 892 lecturers will also be appointed through this BCS, they said. PSC chairman Dr Muhammed Sadique told media that they were still aware of the teacher crisis in the government colleges, and they have a plan to arrange a special circular to meet the crisis. “If we get proposal, we will think over to arrange a special BCS further to appoint teacher in education cadre,” he said.
