41 Covid deaths in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered 41 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,744 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 7,264 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,894,535, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The current positivity rate fell to 16.95 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.69 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.52 percent in the country, added the release.

Of the deaths, 22 were reported from Dhaka, six from Chattogram, five from Rajshahi, three each from Khulna and Rangpur, and two were reported from Sylhet division.

A total of 42,867 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday.

Some 11,046 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,644,628 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 86.81 percent.

As of Thursday, 5,798,039 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 404,211,779 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
