Uranium brought to Rooppur arrived in Dhaka by special flight on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, when the third shipment of uranium reached the Rooppur project from Dhaka via Bangabandhu Bridge via Banpara in Natore and Dashuria intersection in Ishwardi, the Bangladeshi and Russian officials working on the project welcomed them as before.

Rooppur project director Dr. Shaukat Akbar said that nuclear fuel of the project is being brought to Rooppur by road with maximum security. More shipments will come to the country gradually. He said, since the first shipment arrived, the Rooppur Power Plant has been recognized as a nuclear installation. On October 5, in an official ceremony in Rooppur, Russia handed over the nuclear fuel certificate to the Bangladesh government. The guidelines of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for fuel import, transportation and maintenance of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant are being duly followed, he added.
