33 Covid deaths in 24hrs

Bangladesh registered 33 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,461 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 11,596 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,835,776, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The current positivity rate stands 25.86 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.55 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.55 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the 33 deceased, 22 were males and 11 were females. Of them, 18 were from Dhaka, six from Khulna, four from Rajshahi, two each from Chattogram and Sylhet and one from Rangpur division. 

A total of 44,843 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday.

Some 5,955 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,581,092 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 86.13 percent.

As of Thursday, 5,721,171 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 385,967,643 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
