30 welfare centres for expats to be built in 30 dists

The Wage Earners’ Welfare Board (WEWB) of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment will set up 30 welfare centers for expatriates in 30 districts of the country. 2 lakh trained workers from these welfare centers will get an incentive of Tk 13,500.

The Wage Earners’ Welfare Board and the World Bank on Thursday signed a subsidy agreement signing ceremony for expatriates' reintegration project.

Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ahmed Munirush Salehin provided the information on Thursday during the subsidy agreement signing ceremony for expatriates' reintegration project between WEWB and World Bank. 

He said, “We have undertaken a huge project for expatriates’ reintegration. Through this project 30 welfare centers will be set up in 30 districts of the country. The Wage Earners Welfare Board will implement the project. This project will be implemented for the welfare of the expatriates. Through this project, we will assist them to get social and economic support.”

He further said that these welfare centers will be set up by the Wage Earners Welfare Board and the World Bank through the reintegration project. 

“Training will be imparted to the returning migrants at the welfare centers that will be set up through this project worth Tk 427 crore. At the end of the training, 2 lakh workers will be given an incentive of Tk 13,500 after verification and selection,” he added.

He mentioned that the elderly, women and those in dire need of money will be given priority. 

“Besides, 25,500 returnees will be given RPL or Recognition of Prime Learning Certificate,” he said.
