UNB, Jamalpur:: A Jamalpur court on Wednesday sentenced three people to death in a case filed over the gang-rape of a woman after tying her husband to a tree in 2023.
Jamalpur Women and Children Repression Tribunal-1 Judge Muhammad Abdur Rahim handed down the punishment.
The condemned convicts are—Faruk Hossain, son of Azizul Haque, Mansur Ali, son of Ali Akbar and Ferdous Hossain, son of Shafiqul Islam of Pakulla Madhyapara in Sadar upazila of the district.
The tribunal also fined the convicts Tk 1 lakh each.
The court also acquitted one accused identified as Zahidul Islam, son of Jamal Uddin as allegations brought against him could not be proved.
According to the prosecution, the convicts violated a woman of Pakulla area in turns after tying her husband to tree on the night of July 19, 2023.
The woman filed a case with Sadar Police Station on the following day against four people.
