24 die of coronavirus in a day in Bangladesh

Bangladesh on Friday confirmed highest single-day 24 more deaths from Covid-19 and 1,694 new cases of coronavirus overnight.

With that, the death surged to 432 and total cases 30,205.
Additional Director General for Health Prof Nasima Sultana made the disclosure in the virtual bulletin and said they had tested 9,727 samples in 47 labs across Bangladesh during the period of 24 hours till 8am of Friday.
Some 588 patients recovered from the disease, raising the total recoveries to 6190.

Of the deceased, 13 were from Dhaka division, nine were from Chattogram division, one from Barishal division and another from Mymensingh division. Fifteen of them died at hospitals and eight died at home while another was declared dead after arriving at the hospital.

Five were aged between 21 and 30 years, three between 31 and 40, two between 41 and 50, five between 51 and 60, six between 61 and 70, two between 71 and 80, and another between 81 and 90 years, Prof Nasima said.

Currently, 56,401 people are quarantined across Bangladesh – including 2,019 newly -quarantined individuals. A total of 201,253 people have completed their quarantine course.

The authorities placed 225 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 into isolation, bringing the total to 4,060 after 2,028 left.

The country is capable of accommodating 13,284 people at different isolation wards and 31,840 people at 626 institutional quarantine facilities.

Prof Nasima said 17 private hospitals and diagnostic centers have been authorised to conduct RT-PCR test to detect COVID-19 infection.

“14 of those are in Dhaka, two in Chattogram and one in Bagura.”
