The government has selected 140 businessmen as Commercially Important Persons (CIPs) for their significant contribution to the country's trade. Among them a total of 12 businessmen have received CIP status from Chattogram.
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu handed over CIP cards to 184 businessmen at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden on Thursday.
The 12 CIP selected in Chattogram is the M/s S. R. Enterprises owner of Md. Shahidul Islam in single category of agricultural products. Managing Director of Kiswan Snacks Limited in Forkan, Agro processing (Single) category, Gauhar Siraj Jamil, Managing Director of Divine Intimates Limited in Knitwear (Single) category, Khalilur Rahman, Chairman of KDS Group in Knitwear Garments (Group) category, Mirza Md. Jamshed Ali, Managing Director of Ritzy Group in Knitwear Garments (Group) category, Miss Sahara Chowdhury, Chairman of Four H Dyeing and Printing Limited in Textile (Fabrics) single category, Gazi Mokarram Ali Chowdhury, Managing Partner of Marine Safety Systems in Miscellaneous (single) category, Amer Ali Hussain, Managing Director of BSRM Steels Limited in Single) category, Md. Monir Hossain, Proprietor of Monir Trading in Miscellaneous (Single) category, Syed Mohammad Tanveer, Managing Director of Pacific Jeans Limited in C (Single) category under EPZ and Unity Style &Accessories Limited in C (Single) category, Chairman Mohammad Ahid Siraj Chowdhury, Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) representative and FBCCI director Mohammad Nurun Newaz has been elected to CIP Trade.
The persons with CIP status will be eligible to receive a car sticker for entry into the Bangladesh Secretariat during its validity period. They will be invited to various national events and civic receptions organized by municipal corporations.
Business travel will get priority for seat reservation in government vehicles by air, rail, road and water. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue a 'Letter of Introduction' to the concerned embassy for obtaining a visa for business travel abroad. CIP persons will get priority for cabin facilities in government hospitals for treatment of wife, children and self. At the same time you will get the facility of using VIP Lounge-2 at the airport.
The CIP card must be submitted to the Ministry of Commerce within one week of its expiry. The government reserves the right to withdraw CIP benefits granted to anyone without assigning any reason.
