A total of 1131 bridges have been constructed in the country in the last three terms of the Awami League government.
Of these constructed bridges, 20 bridges were more than 500 meters long and 165 bridges were constructed between the lengths of 100 to 500 meters. Constructions of more 20 bridges are under way in the current fiscal year.
"Some 1131 big and small bridges have been constructed in the country during the past three tenure of the present government," Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told the parliament on Wednesday.
During the question-answer session of the Jatiya Sangsad, Obaidul Quader said this in response to a question tabled and raised by treasury bench lawmaker Kazim Uddin Ahammed from Mymensingh-11.
