In the 2025 election of the historic Patuakhali Press Club (term 2026), Md. Zakir was elected president unopposed, while Zakaria Hridoy secured the post of general secretary, also without opposition.
Last night, on Saturday, the Chief Election Commissioner, senior journalist and freedom fighter Atul Chandra Das, announced the final list of candidates. As there were no opposing candidates for the eleven positions, Md. Zakir Hossain, district correspondent of Dainik Inqilab, was confirmed as president, Md. Sohrab Hossain of Daily Star as vice president, Zakaria Hridoy of Jamuna Television as general secretary, Monir Hossain Badal of Somoy Television as joint general secretary, and Md. Jahangir Hossain of Dainik Pratidin as finance secretary. The executive committee members were declared as Kajol Baron Das (NTV), Shankar Lal Das (Dainik Khobor), Chinmoy Karmakar (Masranga TV), Zakir Mahmud Selim (Dainik Manabkantha), Moshiur Rahman Bablu (My TV), and Mozahidul Islam Nannu (Dainik Bangladesh Khobor).
Polling is scheduled for tomorrow, 22 December, after which the Chief Election Commissioner will officially declare the above candidates as winners.
