A young man was allegedly stabbed to death over a comment on a Facebook post in Jashore town early Wednesday.
The incident took place in Battala mosque area of the town.
The victim was Akash Hossain, 28, son of Tota Mia, a resident of that area.
The victim Akash's wife said, Akash had a dispute with Tanveer of the same area over Facebook comments. Tanveer threatened to kill him. Sabbir and Tanveer of the same locality called him on Tuesday night. They then beaten and stabbed by their accomplices and fled.
Later, locals rescued Akash in critical condition and took to Jashore General Hospital where the emergency department doctors declared him dead.
The hospital's emergency department doctor Saifur Rahman said Akash was brought to the hospital around 1:35 am. Then he was declared dead. He has stab marks on his neck. He died of excessive bleeding before being taken to the hospital.
Jashore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Razzak said that those involved in the incident have been identified. Police teams have launched operations to arrest the accused.
