A youth was stabbed to death by his friends over a trifle matter at Masdair of Narayanganj’s Fatulla on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Nayem, 18, son of Khalil, a tenant of Masdair area and hailed from Shariatpur district. Fatullah Model police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aslam Hossain said the victim and the accused all were friends.
Nayem was killed when they locked into a clash among themselves over a trifle matter, he added. Following the incident, victim’s mother Majeda Begum filled a case with Fatulla Police Station. Five people have been named in the case while another four to five unidentified have been accused.
Meanwhile, police arrested two suspects Rifat and Habib in the case.
According to the case documents, Nayem and his five friends, who all are apparel workers, were gossiping at Masdair Burir Dokan area.
All of sudden, Al-Amin slapped Nayem after being angry at Nayem over a . Then Nayem left the spot and again returned there with several others prompting a clash among themselves.
At one stage, one of Al-Amin’s men stabbed Nayem with a sharp weapon, leaving the latter severely injured.
Two others also sustained injuries during the clash.
Critically injured Nayem was taken to the Narayanganj General Hospital where he succumbed to his injures while undergoing treatment.
Two other injured underwent treatment in Dhaka Medical College Hospital, police said.
