Youth killed during exchange of fire in Narsingdi

A youth was shot dead and 10 others were also injured by bullets in Narsingdi's Raypura upazila on Wednesday morning.

Mason by profession, deceased Sagar Miah, 20, was son of Jaynal Miah, a resident of Sonakandi village.

According to local people, Rajib Sarker of Nilokkha village has been on  loggerheads with Anwar Sarker for a long time over establishing supremacy.

On Wednesday morning, Rajib's followers, equipped with lethal weapons, attacked Birgaon, Sonakandi, Amirabad and some other places. Then a clash ensued between the two feuding groups.

Several people were injured by bullets at that time. Of them, Sagar succumbed to his injuries on the way to Narsingdi Hospital.

The injured are receiving treatment at different hospitals to avert arrest.

Additional policemen have been deployed to avert further clash, said Afsan Al Alam, assistant superintendent of Narsingdi police.
