Police have arrested a young man named Sajal Sikder (30) with 55 Yaba tablets during an anti-drug operation in the Sadar Upazila of Gazipur.
The arrest took place around 8:30 am on Monday near Bhawal Mirzapur Degree College. According to police sources, Sajal Sikder, son of Azim Sikder from the Bhawal Mirzapur Bazar area, was apprehended during a routine patrol when he aroused suspicion. Upon being searched, the Yaba tablets were found in his possession.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Joydebpur Police Station, Md Touhid Ahmed, confirmed that a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act in connection with the incident.
Sajal Sikder was presented before the court and subsequently sent to jail on Monday afternoon.
OC Touhid Ahmed also stated that regular special operations are ongoing as part of efforts to eradicate drug abuse in the region, and this arrest is part of that continuing initiative.
