The body of an unidentified youth has been found floating in a drain near the CNG station at Tigerpass intersection in Chattogramcity.
Local residents found the body lying in the drain and informed Khulshi police station on Friday afternoon. Later, police and fire service members went to the spot and recovered the body.
Police said that the body was lying face down in the drain. He was wearing a shirt and lungi. Initially, it is believed that he may have died of a heart attack or drug-induced causes and fell into the drain inadvertently. Besides, the body may have gotten stuck there due to the pull of the water current.
Khulshi police station officer-in-charge (OC) Aftab Hossain said, "The body has been recovered and sent to the morgue of ChattogramMedical College Hospital for autopsy."
Efforts are underway to identify the body and CCTV footage from the area will be analysed.
A case of accidental death has been registered in the incident, the police official said.
