Youth Career Symposium held in Rangpur

Plan International Bangladesh organised the Youth Career Symposium on 13 February, 2020. One of the primary objectives of the event was to ascertain the career aspirations of youth and the respective opportunities and challenges that are prevailing in the job market. 

Another objective was to connect and gather significant representatives from Private, Government and NGO sectors and aspiring youth in a single platform in order to identify and discuss the gaps between youth career aspirations and availability of skill building opportunities in the existing and emerging sphere of employment.   

Md. Zakir Hossain, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General), Rangpur Division was present as the Chief Guest. Partha Bose, Director, Chamber of Commerce, Rangpur,   Shahinul Islam, Regional Manager (Acting), UCEP Bangladesh, AFM Jalal Uddin, Deputy Genegral Manager, Shilpa Shahayok Kendra, BISCIC, Rangpur, Belal Hossain, Director, Bithi Driving Training Centre, Ashish Kumar Bakshi, Divisional Manager of Plan International Bangladesh, Humayun Khaled the Director – Field Operations of RDRS Bangladesh were present as special guest.

 AFM Jalal Uddin, Deputy Genegral Manager, Shilpa Shahayok Kendra, BISCIC, Rangpur, Mosharraf Hossain, Deputy Director, Department of Social Service,  Dilgir Alam, Deputy Director, Department of Youth Development, Rangpur, and Arabinda Kumar Bordhan, Principal, Technical School and College, Rangpur and Abdullah Al Maamun, Manager-Youth & Economic Empowerment were present as Panelist.

A total of 75 youth participated in the event and were divided into 8 groups for the World Cafe session.  Through the innovative and interactive session, the youth engaged in team brainstorming exercise to identify, illustrate and present the different types of challenges they face in accessing and acquirng employment in the present market. 

In addition,the representatives from various sectors joined the event as panelists and discussed the various opportunities and facilities available in their respective institutions that would aid the aspiring youth in pursuing their preferred career pathways.

The entire event was moderated by Parveen S. Huda and the event was concluded following closing remarks by Aashish Kumar Bakhshi, Plan International Bangladesh.
