RAB arrested a person named Hlamong Marma along with 3 kg 600 grams of opium from Lama in Bandarban. He was arrested from Phansiakhali Yangcha Chotapara area of the upazila on Saturday (February 10) night.
The arrested Hlamong Marma (38) is the son of Mangchai Marma of that area.
The matter has been confirmed by RAB-15 Senior Assistant Director Additional Police Superintendent Md. Abu Salam Chowdhury.
He said that Hlamong Marma's house was raided after receiving information from secret sources. Meanwhile, 3 kg 600 grams of opium hidden in a special bag under the bed of the bedroom of his living room was recovered. The estimated value of recovered illegal opium is around 3 crore 60 lakh rupees.
This official of RAB said that legal action against the arrest is under process. Incidentally, in 2023, a total of 14 kg 845 grams of opium was recovered along with other drugs through operations conducted by RAB-15 at various times.
