RAB-7 arrested two people while smuggling various electrical goods and pipes inside sacks of kazir dewri SA Paribahan in Kotwali police station of the city.
RAB-7 senior assistant director Md. Nurul Abshar gave this information on Thursday.
The arrested are Abu Bakar Siddique (30) son of Abdul Munaf of Kakara area of Chakaria police station of Cox's Bazar district, Md Ismail Hossain (27) son of deceased Jasim Uddin of the same area.
Md Nurul Abshar said that two people named Abu Bakar Siddique and Md Ismail Hossain were arrested on the basis of secret information that drug dealers were staying in kazir dewri area of the city to buy and sell Yaba. They collected Yaba from Teknaf police station area of Cox's Bazar district and brought it to Chakaria police station in the same district by local bus. Later it was sent to Kazi Deuri branch of the city through SA Paribahan Chakaria branch.
They were waiting at Kazi Deuri SA Paribahan to collect these.
He said, 15 thousand 750 pieces of yaba were recovered from a sack packet with various electronic items, pipes, fans at the counter of SA Paribahan.
The arrested have been collecting yaba from Teknaf for a long time and later smuggling it to drug dealers in different parts of the country including Chittagong district. The estimated value of recovered drugs is Tk 47 lakh. It has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
