With the slogan “Tourism and Green Investments”, the ‘World Tourism Day’ was celebrated in Cox’s Bazar, one of the prominent tourist destinations in the world, on Saturday.

On the occasion, a colorful procession was brought out in the morning by the Cox’s Bazar District Administration in collaboration with ISEC–ILO Tourism Sector Support Implementation Partnership Initiative, Cox’s Bazar Hotel Owners’ Association, Restaurant Owners’ Association, Tour Operators’ Association, and the National Coordination Committee for Workers Education (NCCWE).

The day’s program began with the release of pigeons and balloons at Sugandha Point near Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach, inaugurated by the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Cox’s Bazar, Mr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan.

After the inauguration, tourism entrepreneurs, the district administration, various tourism-related organizations, and development agencies joined the rally under their respective banners. The rally ended at Laboni Point of the beach. Following the rally, the Deputy Commissioner officially launched a beach cleaning campaign. During the event, he also greeted tourists visiting Cox’s Bazar with flowers.

More than 1,000 participants including tourism workers, local residents, and representatives from various associations joined the vibrant procession, which featured colorful banners, placards, and slogans. The rally started from Sugandha Point and concluded at Laboni Point.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mannan highlighted various government plans for the development of Cox’s Bazar’s tourism industry. At the end of the event, the participants collectively reiterated their commitment to establishing Cox’s Bazar as a world-class tourist destination while ensuring sustainable development and dignified livelihoods for tourism workers.
