World Social Work Day celebrated in Jamalpur

The World Social Work Day was celebrated for the first time on 25th July in Jamalpur with a colorful program in front of the theme 'Social work to prevent violence against children and women and the importance of social workers in child protection'.  On this occasion, the procession left Bakultala square at 10 am.  After the city tour, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.  

Deputy Commissioner Sravasti Roy was present as the chief guest. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Moklechur Rahman, brave freedom fighter Sujayat Ali Fakir, director of human resources development of Unyanan Sangh and member of Jamalpur Press Club spoke in the discussion meeting held under the chairmanship of Raju Ahmed, Deputy Director of District Social Services Office.  Jahangir Salim, President of Jamalpur District Press Club Fazle Elahi Makam, President of Sajiri Samaj Kalyan Sansthan Arifa Yasmin Mayuri etc. 

The speakers said that although there are many offices as service providers of the government, due to various limitations including manpower crisis, the common people suffer in many ways.  Social workers have an opportunity to play a major role in this regard.  Although social workers are recognized in the developed countries of the world, it is largely absent in Bangladesh. 

 Real socialists keep themselves hidden, but illegal money owners reveal themselves as socialists.  The speakers expressed the opinion that the real social workers should be identified and used as a development supporting force of the government and they should be brought under training.
