The World Bank will provide 100 million dollars to Bangladesh to control dengue, said Health Minister ZahidMalek.

After the meeting with the delegation of the World Bank at the secretariat on Wednesday afternoon, the Health Minister said that dengue is increasing, it should be brought under control.

The World Bank will provide 100 million dollars financing to the Ministry of Local Government for mosquito control.

The minister said that they have arranged 500 million dollars to control dengue. 100 million dollars will be given to the Ministry of Health for urban health. 700 million dollars will be given for Rohingya and local population. It will be used for infrastructure and services.

The World Bank said it will be approved at the board meeting at the end of August. Regarding dengue, he said, it is necessary to control mosquitoes, it is necessary to spray in different places.

That spray needs to be stronger. This work should be strengthened in the city corporations and municipalities.  "Let them use the right medicine. We provide as much

service as possible. There are many patients in the hospitals. 500 people died, more than 100,000 people were infected. These 500 people died because mosquitoes were not controlled", he added.

He also said that dengue has increased a lot in our country. It has not grown so much in the surrounding countries. So the Ministry of Health is trying to provide services.

"People are satisfied with the service. But dengue cases will not decrease and deaths will not decrease if mosquitoes do not decrease. That is why it will be better if you fulfill your responsibilities", said ZahidMalek.
