Workshop to boost palm tree plantation held in Lakshmipur

A day-long training workshop on raising, planting and maintenance of palm saplings was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in Lakshmipur. The training workshop was organized at Lakshmipur District Administrator's office under the initiative of Bangladesh Forest Research Institute (BFRI) Chittagong, Ministry of Environment, Forest, Climate Change. Chittagong BFRI Silviculture Genetics Divisional Forest Officer Dr Mahbubur Rahman presided over and Senior Scientific Officer Zahirul Islam was the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hoshain Akand, Coastal Forest Division Divisional Forest Officer Farid Mia was the special guest.

  Additional Deputy Commissioner Noor A Alam, Chittagong Wheat Research Institute Senior Scientific Officer D Ahida Parveen, Forest Officer Ibrahim Mia, along with Lakshmipur and Noakhali Coastal Divisional Forest Officer Feroze Alam shed light on the different techniques of palm seedling production, palm and palm trees. Over 60 trainees from various categories including local agriculture and forest officials, government, private organizations and media workers participated in the training workshop. At this time, the evidence of the various benefits of palm and palm trees is displayed.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina promised to organize such programs to protect people's lives, livelihood and environment. Environmentally friendly and disaster tolerant palm trees save people's lives by preventing lightning and storms. 

Protects human resources by preventing river erosion. A lot of sweet juice is obtained from the palm tree. With which jaggery can be made. They play an effective role in curing various colds and coughs. Tal fills the deficiency of vitamins in the body. Various household, cottage industry items are made from palm leaf, palm fiber.

  Therefore, everyone in the society is invited to plant a lot of palm trees along the roads, rivers, ponds, ponds and localities.
