‘Right to Information (RTI) Act 2009: Rules, Regulations; And Classification of Information and Preservation's workshop was held virtually in Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Gazipur on Tuesday.
The workshop was inaugurated Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Dr Habibur Rahman at the initiative of the Duet's Annual Performance Agreement (APA) team and the Information Provision Unit for the implementation of the right to information.
At the time, he highlighted the importance and significance of information, saying that the people are the owners of the state.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has asked the people to ensure accountability for all kinds of government activities. Therefore, it is very important to properly store information and provide information services.
He said that in a democratic state, all citizens have the right to information under the Right to Information Act.
He further said that in order to establish transparency, accountability, reduce corruption and establish good governance, every organization has to work properly for the implementation of the right to information.
He also called upon all to nurture the ideals and philosophy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the greatest Bengali of all time, and build a developed state under the leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The workshop was chaired by Prof Dr Md. Raju Ahmed, Team Leader of Duet's APA Team and Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). Prof Dr Mohammad Asaduzzaman Chowdhury, Convener and Director (Research and Extension) of the Information Provisioning Unit, set up for the implementation of Right to Information, spoke on the occasion.
Director (Research, Publication and Training) of Bangladesh Information Commission Dr Mohammad A Hakim and was present as resource person in the technical sessions of the workshop.
The program was conducted by the Director (Research and Extension) of the Office of the Publication Information Officer and APA Focal Point Ziaul Haque.
The workshop was attended by members of various committees related to APA of the University and representatives of various departments, institutes and offices.
