A four-day long national workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Fundamentals for Brand Designing’ has begun on June 2, at Osman Jamal auditorium of the Faculty of Fine Art of Dhaka University (DU).
In the program, Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal, vice chancellor of DU, inaugurated this workshop as chief guest while prof. Nisar hossain,
Dean of Fine art faculty, Presided over the inaugural function.
There were also present Mr. Andrew Michael ong, Director of Division of Asia Pacific of WIPO, Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, DG of foreign ministry, and Dr. Kaisir Mohammad Moinul Hasan, Director
of Department of Patents,
Designs and Trademarks of the Ministry of Industries as special guests.
In addition, Faculty of Fine Art of Dhaka University, Department of Patent, Design and Trademarks of the Ministry of Industries and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) jointly organized this event with the assistance of Japan Patent Office (JPO).
As a chief guest Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal, DU VC, said, “we are living in an era of knowledge economy, innovation, new concept and new product.
He stressed the need for giving more attention to fundamental research and innovation.
He further said, “DU faculties, researchers and students need to be equipped with knowledge of laws and policies of intellectual property rights to protect our innovation and idea.
It may be mentioned that faculties, alumni and students of DU Faculty of Fine Art have been participating in this workshop”.
