A worker of a cargo ship, drowned in the Dakatia River after being pushed off by a fellow worker over a dispute in Balumohal of Hajiganj upazila in Chandpur on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Md Jahid Hasan, 30, son of Md Alauddin of Hathazari village of Kamalnagar.
Officer-in-charge of Haziganj Police Station Alamgir Hossain Roni said the workers were working in a cement laden cargo ship when Jahid locked into a scuffle with Mohinuddin, 22, over the
lunch menu. At one stage, Mohinuddin pushed Jahid into the water, the OC added. Later, divers recovered Jahid’s body from the water in the afternoon, he said. Police also arrested Mohinuddin in this regard, the OC said.
