Chittagong City Corporation Administrator Alhaj Khorshed Alam Sujan said that all the ongoing development works including Maheshkhal, Port Connecting Road (PC Road) funded by JICA in the corporation should be completed by December 12.

Otherwise the work order of the concerned contractors will be canceled, he added.

He made the remarks while addressing a meeting with JICA delegation at his office at the corporation's temporary office building at Batali Hill in Tiger Pass of Chattogram city on Wednesday.

City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, Secretary Muhammad Abu Shahed Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Lt. Col. Sohail Ahmed, JICA Team Leader Michael Slingsby and Engineer Md. Nasir Uddin were present there.

CCC Administrator Khorshed Alam Sujan said that despite repeated urgings, some contractors were carrying out their activities at will.  In addition to the suffering of the people, the image of the CCC is being tarnished, which is not desirable. The corporation will have to take a decision to cancel the work order in the interest of the city dwellers as the work has not been done even after persuading the contractors to do it he added.
