Women proved competence everywhere: Ctg DC

Commenting that women are not rivals of men, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Mominur Rahman said, “Women are well established in all professions with their sincerity and relentless efforts.”

He said this while addressing a discussion meeting on International Women's Day organised by the district administration, the office of the Deputy Director of Women's Affairs and the National Women's Organization at the District Children's Academy auditorium in Chattogram on Monday.

 Mohammad Mominur Rahman said that equal participation of men and women is essential to achieve SDG by 2030 and build a better Bangladesh according to Bangabandhu's dream of happiness and prosperity.

He said that all concerned should come forward to prevent violence against against women and children, eve-teasing and child marriage to ensure the women empowerment and rights.

If women become self-reliant along with men, injustice will be removed from the society, he added.

The Deputy Commissioner also said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is a successful woman and a role model to the world for the development of women as well as the country.  Through her efforts, Bangladesh is moving forward.”

“The government is working relentlessly for the welfare of women,” he added.

Compared to other countries in the world, our country is much more successful in dealing with the Corona situation.  The Prime Minister has been holding regular talks with the heads of districts, divisions and various government departments to control any situation during the Corona period, he said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) SM Zakaria presided over the programme and Program Officer Salma Parveen conducted it.  Deputy Director of Chittagong Department of Women's Affairs Madhabi Barua gave a welcome speech at the discussion.

Former Deputy Director of the Department of Women's Affairs Anjana Bhattacharya, District Children's Affairs Officer of the Children's Academy Nurul Abshar Bhuiyan and member of the National Women's Organization Kalpana Lala were special guests on the occasion.
