Bangladesh's women’s national football team is likely to play warmup games against Argentina. This was disclosed by the chairperson of the Women Football Wing of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), Mahfuza Akter Kiron, recently. However, this initiative is currently on hold due to the country’s general election. The fixture list will be finalized after the election on January 7.

The monetary issue is the main dilemma in bringing Argentina’s women's football team to Bangladesh. Without sponsorship, BFF is currently unable to spend huge amounts of money on the visiting team. Talks are currently ongoing at a primary level with a company in this regard.

Mahfuza Akter Kiron said, ‘“We talked with an organization regarding sponsorship to bring the Argentina team. They asked me, what can BFF do for the warmup matches? We said, ‘BFF will bear for accommodation and food for the Argentina team.”’

BFF also informed the organization about the name of the hotel where the Argentina team will stay.

“The football governing body will not bear any extra cost. The sponsor will have to bear other expenses, said the chairperson.

Argentina will play two matches against the hosts, Bangladesh. It would be a great experience, Sabina & Co. Argentina's women's football team is in the 31st and Bangladesh's in the 140th positions in the latest FIFA ranking. The difference between the two teams is massive, but the BFF wants the women’s team to reach new heights and become a formidable side.

The football governing body wishes to play against a strong team like Argentina or any other European women's football team.

The Women South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship would be held in October. The SAFF Committee will announce the host country within a few days.

Bangladesh, the defending champions of SAFF, wants to play against strong oppositions to hold the trophy. Bangladesh clinched the title, defeating Nepal by 3-1 at the Dasharath Rangsala Stadium, Kathmandu, on September 19, 2022.

Meanwhile, the chairperson called all the players to inform them of their next plans for Wednesday. She talked with senior and junior booters about the issue.

She told the seniors that they had to play against stronger teams than Singapore. BFF does not want to play weak teams or those who are below Bangladesh in ranking.

There was a match against Saudi Arabia, but the KSA team is very busy due to their domestic football league. So, they can’t play any matches against any foreign country at the moment. BFF is continuing talks with other Asian region teams as an alternative.
