Suparna Chowdhury (60) died in a tragic road accident early Sunday while returning home with flowers for a household puja. She was hit by an unidentified vehicle around 6:30 AM while crossing the road in Janalihut, Ward-4 of Rauzan Municipality.
Locals rushed her to Gohira JK Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Suparna was the wife of Subhash Chowdhury from Jagat Mollapara and a mother of two.
Her death cast a pall of grief over the area. Residents, including local teacher Joy Bhattacharya, demanded speed control measures on the Chattogram-Rangamati road, citing multiple recent fatalities at the same spot.
Raozan Highway Police OC Mohammad Ullah stated they were not officially informed of the incident.
