A woman was killed in an attack by a wild elephant at Dongnala under Kaptai upazila in Rangamati on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Unu Marma, 45, wife of Mong Thoai Marma of Raikhali Dongnala Marma Para of the upazila.
Ashhraf Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandraghona Police Station, said that a wild elephant attacked the woman when she went to the Dongnala for cutting wood around 7am, leaving her seriously injured.
Locals later rescued her and took her to Chandraghona Christian Hospital where doctors declared her dead around 10:55am, said Dr Prabir Khiang, director of the hospital.
