A son killed his mother with an ax for not registering land in his name at Gosairhat in Shariatpur. The incident took place at Laxmipur village under Nagerpara union of the upazila at around 6:30 pm on Sunday. Gosairhat police has arrested the son in this case.
According to the relatives and police sources, Anwara Begum, 60, wife of Abdul Matin Kha of Dhalirhat area of Laxmipur village, was hit by her son Abdul Malek, 40, on the head with an ax, while she was going to the kitchen to make tea after Maghrib prayers. She died later on the way while being taken to Gosairhat Hospital by relatives.
Gosairhat police station OC Mollah Soheb Ali said that the son killed his mother with an ax as she did not register the land in his name. The ax used in murder was recovered.
