Woman JMB militant held in Savar


Police have arrested a young woman for his alleged involvement in neo JMB by conducting an operation at Ashulia of Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Monday. However, Tanvir, the main suspect, also husband of the woman was managed to flee.

The arrestee was identified as Shayla Sharmin, wife of Tanvir. But detail identity of the woman yet to know.

Maruf Hossain Sarder, Superintendent of Dhaka zila Police (SP) said, “We had secret intelligence information that New-JMB militants stay at this house. Later, Police conducted an operation based on such information and arrested the woman. But her husband named Tanvir, who is also a student of Institute of Information department of Jahangirnagar University, was managed to flee before police arrived at the scene. Tanvir is the IT head of new JMB organizations.”

“We recovered some petrol bomb, 3 toy pistol, some domestic weapons, Bomb making equipment from the house. Also, we are trying to arrest Tanvir, husband of the woman and his other associates”, SP added.

Earlier, some team of Dhaka zila policemen cordoned the suspicious house before starting the operation at Gokulnagar area of Ashulia around 6:00pm on Monday evening. Also, the residents were evacuated at safe distance. Later, Police declared the operation was over, after a three-hour raid.
