Woman held with 20 kgs of hemp, car

Police arrested a female drug peddler from Sher-e-Bangla road area under Fatulla police station in Narayanganj in the early hours on Friday. 

The arrestee was identified as Sonia, 35, wife of Mahabub Hossain of Chandpur village at Shingra in Natore district. She lives at Masdair area of Fatulla as a tenant. 

During the raid, police also seized 20 kgs of ganja, cash taka 48 thousand and drug peddling used a private car bearing number Dhaka metro Ga-25-8417 from her possession.

On information, Fatulla police inspector (investigation) Shafiqul Islam led the raid at Sonia’s house and recovered 16 kgs of ganja from Sonia’s bedroom and other 4 kgs were recovered from private car that was stationed in her tenant house. Cash money was recovered by searching her body. During the drive, Sonia’s husband Mahabub, who is also a drug peddler, managed to escape from the house, police said.

Inspector Shafiqul Islam said that a case was filed under narcotics control act accusing Sonia and her absconded husband Mahabub Hossain in this regard.
