A woman died when tree-branches fell on her head from a moving truck at Monirampur Bazar in upazila sadar area under Jashore on Friday evening at 6:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Kohinoor Begum (45) wife Jahangir Alam of Dighirpar village under the upazila.
Monirampur Fire Service and Civil Defense leader Humayun Kabir, said when the woman reached the northern end of Monirampur Bazar on a van at 6:30 pm, tree-branches fell on her head from a moving truck. Locals rescued her and took her to Monirampur Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Monirampur Upazila Health Complex emergency department doctor Musabbirul Islam Rifat said the woman had died before she was brought to the hospital.
Monirampur thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said the body was recovered and sent to Jashore 250-bed General Hospital morgue. A case has been filed with the police station in this regard.
