Police in Chuadanga have arrested a woman accused of brutally killing her husband with a sharp weapon in Madhabpur village, Jibannagar. The suspect, Papiya Khatun, was detained on Saturday from Jhanshbaria village in Alamdanga upazila.
Officer-in-Charge Md. Mamun Hossain Biswas confirmed the arrest. Following the incident, police launched a special operation and later recovered the murder weapons — a machete and an axe.
According to her confession, Papiya pressured her husband, Monirul Islam, to withdraw money from the bank to fund their son Raju’s trip abroad. When Monirul refused, a dispute broke out. In a fit of rage, Papiya fatally attacked him at home on Saturday afternoon. She fled the scene immediately after the killing, but was later tracked down by police.
