Speakers at a discussion said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is beyond comparison. He can be compared only with himself as without Bangabandhu, we could not have an independent country.

The speakers said these at a meeting in Chattogram on Thursday, organised by Chattagram Press Club and Chattogram Union of Journalists. The discussion was arranged marking the National Mourning Day.

President of Chattogram Press Club Ali Abbas said, “Bengali is a nation of heroes. The country became independent under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the best Bengali of a thousand years. When Bangabandhu was working to build a post-war country, the anti-national movement killed Bangabandhu with his family on August 15. They did not just kill Bangabandhu and killed the hope of a nation. "

But the hopes of the killers have not been fulfilled, he said. He also said, “They wanted to kill Bangabandhu and turn this country into a Pakistani state and impede development of the country. The rulers had long blocked the democratic environment of the country. But Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, came to the country and took hold of the Awami League. The country is going forward under the leadership Sheikh Hasina. Bangabandhu brought independence to this country and Sheikh Hasina is working for economic liberation. If Bangabandhu is in her hands, this country will go far.

At that time, journalist leaders demanded exemplary punishment for the abducted killers of Bangabandhu.

It was addressed, among others, by former president of Chattogram Press Club Abu Sufyan, Vice President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Riaz Haider Chowdhury, Chattogram Press Club’s Senior Vice President Salauddin Reza, general secretary Chowdhury Farid, former general secretary Mohsin Chowdhury, former vice-president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Shahidul Alam, Acting President of Chittagong journalist union Mainuddin Dulal, General Secretary Hasan Ferdous, TV Journalist Association President Nasir Uddin Tota, and Photo Journalist Association President Didarul Alam.

Chattogram Press Club’s Joint Secretary Nazrul Islam conducted the meeting. Earlier, the club leaders laid floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu. Later a special doa and munajat was offered seeking salvation to the departed soul of Bangabandu and his family members.
