Leaders and activists of Shariatpur Sadar Upazila Jubo League unit held a press conference in protest of filing a allegedly false case against Angaria UP Chairman Anwar Hossain Hawlader at the Union Parishad on Monday.
At the time, Chairman Anwar Hossain Hawlader said, "In my union, contractors oppressed and extorted money from the common people in the name of digging a canal of WDB. I informed the matter to the UNO and DC based on a complaint lodged to me by locals, that's why they filed a false extortion case against me”.
“Police handed over the charge sheet of the case within a month. I demand further investigation by the higher authorities of the Police Department and exemption from the harassment of false case”, he added.
Local Jubo League leaders Abu Siddique Sardar, Babul Sardar, Saidur Rahman Hawlader, Chan Mia Hawlader, Mizanur Rahman and others were present at the time.
